The Canon EOS 5D Mark II is a 21.1-megapixel full-frame CMOS digital single-lens reflex announced in 2008 as Canon’s successor to the EOS 5D. The EOS 5D Mark II has a stunning 21.1-megapixel CMOS sensor with DIGIC 4 Image Processor that offers supreme clarity and the creative advantages of a full-frame sensor.

The EOS 5D Mark II boasts super wide-angle lenses, and enhanced background blur of telephoto lenses. The newly designed sensor is ultra-sensitive, with a vast ISO range of 100-6400 at the standard setting. ISO expansion extends coverage from ISO 50 to an astounding ISO 25600. Shooting outdoor scenes at night, or lit interiors, speaks to picturesque capabilities with auto lighting optimizer that salvages opaque, underexposed images, automatically transforming them into sharp, color-rich photos, and peripheral illumination correction which compensates for light falloff in lenses.

The EOS 5D Mark II is equipped with two noise reduction settings. High ISO speed noise reduction enhances image quality when shooting at high ISO speeds and can be applied in three different levels — Standard, Low, or Strong. Long exposure noise reduction, used for exposures of one second or longer, markedly reduces noise, making it particularly useful for night photography.

It supports live view shooting, live view HD videos (Full High Definition (HD) movie recording and playback functionality which was a first for a DSLR camera), and more, with the ability to shoot up to 3.9 fps.

The EOS 5D Mark II retails at approximately $2700 with kit that includes Canon EOS 5D Mark II 21.1-Megapixel Digital SLR Camera, Battery pack LP-E6 and charger, USB and stereo video cables, Wrist strap, eye cup and EOS Digital Solution software, and Owner’s manual.

The D300S is Nikon’s DX format digital SLR (single lens reflex) flagship innovatively designed for professionals and persons with the ultimate passion for photography. The Nikon D300S is remarkably fast and has a rugged well sealed body magnesium alloy body to protect against foreign particles making it ideal for the outdoors and extreme environments.
The D300S distinct features include contrast-detection autofocus that operates while in movie mode – a first for a Nikon DSLR. It comprises the non-latched memory card door that was incepted with the D700, but has both a CF and SD slot behind it. Other similarities to the D700 include Nikon’s now-standard multi controller with separate central button that, on this camera, initiates movie recording when in live view. The D300S also has similar features to the D90 including the same 12.9 megapixel (12.3 million effective pixels) APS-C sensor and Nikon’s latest generation EXPEED processor. The D300S is Nikon’s third DSLR camera to be equipped with a 12 megapixel image sensor with HD video recording capability.
The D300S now has the faculty of continuously shooting, up to approximately 7 frames per second (fps) on just the basic battery. Its 51 point AF offers superior speed and accuracy much like its predecessor the D300; the multicam 3500DX AF sensor gives a wide range of coverage, allowing for accurate capture of the subject even if its movement is unpredictable. The D300S offers three area modes – Dynamic-area AF, Single-point AF and Auto-area AF.
Nikon’s impressive D-movie function now comes with an external microphone for clear stereo recordings. The D300S’ superior video allows the user to easily switch between still images and D-movie; it’s perfect for creating high end multimedia pieces.
The Nikon D300S price ranges from $1700 to $2500 depending on where the purchase is made.

Introduced as an alternative to the traditional digital SLR camera systems that are far too big and bulky the Panasonic LUMIX G Micro System Digital Camera GF1 is the world’s smallest, lightest interchangeable lens camera with artistic flat design and built-in flash created by using the Micro Four Thirds System standard. The system uses the same size 17.3 x 13mm Four Thirds sensor as found Olympus’ full sized digital SLRs, without the bulky reflex mirror and optical viewfinder.
Following the original Lumix G1 and the HD-video equipped Lumix GH1 this new-generation system camera features Full-Time Live View, high-speed Contrast AF, HD movie recording, and more. Also, it allows long-time movie recording of 720P in AVCHD Lite while maintaining low power consumption.
Motion JPEG format is available in 1,280 x 720 pixels whilst the 3.0-inch 460,000-dot LCD offers a Full-time Live View of the subject, with approximately 100% field of view. Creative versatility exists with My Color Mode making it easy to customize color effects, the Peripherical Defocus Mode which automatically adjusts the focus to match the AF area while gently defocusing to emphasize the subject, and the iA Mode, featuring Face Recognition function and serves as a combination of functions that makes it easy for anyone to take beautiful photos.

Key Specifications

The Nikon D5000 digital SLR camera features an innovative Vari-angle monitor with line view shooting that allows versatility in shooting from almost any angle and vividly shows the subject in real time. This includes high angle shooting which is ideal for shooting over obstacles such as a crowd or fence. The D5000 offers the choice of different display views, and the ability to minimize displayed camera settings for an uncluttered view of the scene.
Record HD movie clips with the D-movie function and take advantage of the NIKKOR lens to obtain a variety of dramatics perspectives unavailable with typical camcorders. The D5000’s 11- point autofocus system is strategically arranged for superb coverage of both vertical and horizontal compositions giving excellent sharpness to photos even for subjects that may be completely unpredictable in movement. It is equipped with Nikon’s exclusive Scene Recognition System using a 420-pixel color sensor and optimizes exposure, auto focus and white balance over the entire scene before the shutter is released. The D5000’s normal ISO range of 200-3200 can be expanded to cover ISO 100-6400 ideal for shooting in lit environments or sporting activities.
The D5000 offers the technical image quality of Nikon’s best DX cameras like the D300 and D90. In comparison the D5000 has the D90′s sensor, AF sensors, Gen 2 image processing smarts and 720p HD movie mode. The Nikon D5000 deviates from the D90 with its design to appeal to users that desire a camera which centers on automatic user friendly operation, while featuring similar technologies and delivering the same level of image quality. The D90 remains aimed at enthusiast level photographers that prefer more manual control options and an extended feature set.
